The Smashing Pumpkins emerged from the Chicago underground in 1988, spearheaded by Billy Corgan and James Iha. Over the years, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes, yet Corgan remains the central figure, driving the group’s evolution through various subgenres including shoegaze, dream pop, and psychedelic rock.
