Label Code: LC 19813 BMG Rights Management was created in October 2008 by the international media company Bertelsmann AG and in 2009 51% was sold to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., a global alternative-asset manager. In 2012, after BMGRM tried to buy the recorded-music assets of EMI, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.’s share of the company was bought out by Bertelsmann. The company is the successor of the original Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), but has nothing in common with its former incarnation (which is now the RCA Records division of Sony Music), apart from its ownership and few retained libraries.
