A multi-platinum selling series of Holiday-themed music that ran from 1985 to 2001, and featured tracks composed and performed by Windham Hill's then-current roster of artists. They featured primarily original tracks commissioned just for the album, although sometimes there were tracks lifted from albums previously recorded. Instead of reflecting a strictly "Christmas" repertoire, label producers William Ackerman and [A=Dawn Atkinson] allowed original compositions, covers of 18th and 19th Century Classical work, and the more traditional Christmas tracks. In doing so, each album combined a unique and eclectic mix of original compositions and arrangements, but carried a familiar and distinct musical flavor, and creating an ever-more popular formula for Holiday music.
