Formed in Canberra in 1984, The Plunderers were an Australian post-punk and alternative rock outfit led by Nic Dalton (bass, vocals) and Stevie Plunder (guitar, vocals). The band's dynamic sound evolved through various line-up changes and relocations across Australian cities, establishing themselves through independent releases on their own Rattlesnake Records label and collaborations with producers Charlie Owen and Rob Younger. Their output included the mini-albums *Trust Us* (1988), *Sarah's Not Falling in Love* (1990), and *Home Movie* (1991), showcasing their inventive approach to post-punk songwriting.
Beyond The Plunderers' core project, the band's members explored complementary sonic territories through side projects. Hippy Dribble brought a psychedelic pop sensibility with releases like *Wild Strawberri* (1990) and *Cheerleaker* (1992) on Half a Cow Records, while Captain Denim revisited the group's folk-rock and country influences. Though The Plunderers' recording career remained relatively brief and album-less during their active years, their prolific output of singles and EPs—coupled with their experimental side ventures—established them as inventive contributors to Australia's independent music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s.
