Thanatos emerged as a pioneering studio collaboration between Padraic Ogl and Sam Rosenthal in mid-1980s South Florida. Establishing themselves early in the electronic music landscape, the project released their debut on Projekt Records in 1984—one of the label's foundational releases during its formative years. The duo's work helped shape the darkwave and electronic experimental sound that would become central to Projekt's identity.
