UK neo-progressive rock act Tamarisk emerged from the vibrant 1980s progressive rock scene, formed by vocalist Andy Grant and keyboardist Steve Leigh. The duo crafted intricate, synth-driven progressive compositions during their initial run (1982–1985), releasing two cassette EPs that showcased their distinctive blend of keyboard-led arrangements and complex song structures. Though they remained unsigned during their original era, Tamarisk built a dedicated following on the UK club and festival circuit, contributing to the neo-progressive movement alongside their contemporaries.
After a lengthy hiatus, Grant revived Tamarisk in 2012, remastering their original cassette recordings into *Frozen In Time*, followed by a professionally remastered edition through Sonic Age Records in 2017. The 2018 release *Breaking The Chains* marked their first new material in over three decades, featuring fresh compositions that maintained their signature progressive sensibilities. Subsequent recordings—including the live album *332018LIVE!* (2018) and *Suspended Animation* (2020)—demonstrate the band's continued commitment to evolving their keyboard-centric progressive rock sound while honoring their 1980s roots.
