About

# Solid

Solid emerged from the London drum and bass scene in the mid-1990s as a collaborative project between Dextrous, Phaze 3, and Klass A—three producers united by a shared vision to push the genre beyond conventional club constraints. Frustrated with the scene's narrow sonic palette, they established State of the Art Recordings as an independent platform for experimental work, coining the term "Urban Fusion" to describe their innovative blend of drum and bass with funk, jazz, techno, and dub influences. This boundary-crossing approach distinguished Solid as pioneers of a more musically sophisticated strain of drum and bass during the genre's most prolific period.

Throughout the late 1990s, Solid released influential material across multiple labels, eventually signing to Renegade Recordings for their final collaborative album, *Point of No Return* (2000). The project concluded that same year, but their legacy remains significant within progressive drum and bass circles for demonstrating how the genre could absorb diverse musical influences while maintaining its essential energy and rhythmic foundation.
