About
# Johnny Jones
Johnny Jones was a Nashville-based rhythm and blues musician and bandleader who led Johnny Jones and the King Casuals through the 1960s and beyond. Taking over the group in the mid-1960s, Jones helped establish the band as a fixture in Nashville's vibrant music scene, performing regularly at Printer's Alley clubs and serving as the house band for the local television program Night Train. The group's energetic R&B sound gained notable traction in Northern soul circles, with their single "Purple Haze" becoming a staple in Northern England's soul clubs during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Throughout his career, Jones maintained a deep commitment to blues traditions, having honed his craft alongside Chicago blues legends like Junior Wells before returning to Nashville as a session musician. He continued recording and performing for decades, culminating in his 2001 solo release Blues Is In the House, which showcased his enduring dedication to the blues idiom.
